I think Abby might need surgery.

Let me rephrase: if I'm lucky she will need surgery for a diaphragmatic hernia; if I am unlucky she'll either need her heart walls/ducts repaired, need treatment for cardiomyopathy, or need no treatment at all because she is untreatable, like Sofie, in which case I think I'm just going to have to end my misery and kill myself because I so cannot do this again.

Long story short, her heart appears to be huge. Like, taking up most of that little tiny kitty chest cavity huge. So either her diaphragm has a hole and things are slipping out of the abdomen and into the sac surrounding her heart (this is the lucky option, this is the one where we throw five thousand dollars or so at the problem and it goes away), or her heart really is practically the size of an egg in which case the causes are not so benign and the treatment not so straightforward, though depending on what it is there may still be something that can be done. She needs an echocardiogram before we know anything more.

We just brought her in for ear mites and a cold...I didn't really think there would be anything wrong. I can't believe this is happening again. Not Abby too.

rrrk......I'm EXHAUSTED.

Trying to finish up stuff, and see that I've got everything wrapped up that I wanted labeled "09".

Finished up three sculptures that needed attention.....did their photo shoots, then posted and updated all online galleries. Ended up rephotoing the dragon I finally named "Drifter" because I'm somewhat obsessive compulsive and sculpted even more on her after I'd told myself she was done....sigh. Then I had to replace all the old now inaccurate shots with the new nicer ones (which actually turned out better photo-wise anyway cause the lighting was better the second time around).

Once that was done, I cleaned out all superfluous deviantart entries (I like to keep it fairly clean and trimmed) then also culled my portfolio. Sigh...that was a bit unsettling....I realized my "roughshot" gallery has quite alot more in it than the finished sculpture folder. Basically...I'm backlogged with sculptures that're completed...and need that extra push onward to either moldmaking or painting.

Oh, there's also all the diaper changing kid sorting activity setup and potty trips that come with being a mom mixed into all this mess....Not to even mention making breakfast lunch and dinner for all of us.

I then went down and scrutinized my workshop with the same ferocity I applied to deviantart....Which entailed lots of trips to the dumpster. Boxes and boxes of stuff. Old molds, old prototypes, rejected sculptures, dried up clay...etc etc. If you have one of the older pieces by me, I can now guarantee it's a limited piece, as about 25-30 prototypes met destruction tonight. I know there's probably tons of you that'll be squealing "you should have KEPT them!" but we're a large family living in an area that also doubles as my work area. I simply dont have the space. I basically had the choice of giving up my work area, which was becoming more and more cavelike (and impossible to work in), or reclaiming it in the hope of actually being able to USE it for creating more art. I chose moving forward.

All my current prototypes were then properly sealed in plastic ziploc bags, to protect them from dust and debris, then organized. Shipping boxes were sorted and stacked according to dimension. I found a gallon bag of popsicle sticks in my workshop (dont ask...I have no CLUE how they ended up in there) which I gave to Donovan who has barely emerged from his room since (building stuff for world domination I suppose...or whatever plans lurk in the mind of an 8 year old). I need to buy some really large (1 gallon? 2 gallon?) plastic bags for storing the larger pieces long term.

Like I said, I AM EXHAUSTED.

Tomorrow is our ten year wedding anniversary. Wow....just...wow....ten years.

Repaired, recarved and reworked....this poor girl's head snapped off the original, and I had to totally rework most of her body due to a condition dubbed "dragon pox"...not to mention other issues with the bad mold she came from. She'll be renamed Drifter.

Got a wild urge to sculpt last night....I blame it on Lyosha, lol. Her owl drawings are incredible, and always have so much personality. I made a passing mention of my temptation to sculpt them.....and I'm pleased to say there'll be an owlet project....I'll be sculpting some owlets inspired by her drawings. We're also wanting to have little cards to come with each of them. In the end it'll be a project of such epic cuteness as to cause cavities!!!!! Mwhahahahahaha.....

Also working on the Clockwork Mouse..who's coming along bit by bit, slow and steady. I'm wanting to do the molds for him and the clockwork snail at the same time. So he'll be a main focus for the next week, maybe a bit more, depending on how things go.

Anyway, pictures!
Lyosha's hatchling drawing and the rough form of the first sculpt.

(omg, posting these side by side I seeee mistakes *grabs sculpting tools with mad fervor* it's funny how you'll see that stuff in a photo, but not in person so much)

Clockwork Mouse! (still has a ways to go)
